Lausanne, Switzerland: The International Hockey Federation (FIH) has officially announced the hosts for the FIH Hockey Olympic Qualifiers, set to take place from 13 to 21 January 2024. China, Pakistan, and Spain have been selected as the host countries for these prestigious tournaments.
In the women’s category, Changzhou, China, and Valencia, Spain, have been designated as the venues for the qualifiers. Similarly, Lahore, Pakistan, and Valencia, Spain, will serve as the host cities for the men’s qualifiers.
Each tournament will feature eight teams, bringing the total number of participating teams to 16 for each gender. The allocation of spots for each continent is as follows:
Women’s FIH Hockey Olympic Qualifiers:
- Africa: 0 teams
- Asia: 4 teams
- Europe: 8 teams
- Oceania: 1 team
- Pan America: 3 teams
Men’s FIH Hockey Olympic Qualifiers:
- Africa: 1 team
- Asia: 5 teams
- Europe: 7 teams
- Oceania: 1 team
- Pan America: 2 teams
The teams eligible to participate in these qualifiers will be determined based on their performance in the Continental Championships scheduled for 2023.
The top three teams from each FIH Hockey Olympic Qualification Tournament will earn their tickets to Paris 2024. They will join the host nation, France, as well as the winners of each Continental Championship, including the African Hockey Road to Paris, Pan American Games, Asian Games, EuroHockey Championship, and Oceania Cup.
Consistent with previous editions, the Paris 2024 Olympic hockey tournaments will feature 12 teams per gender, with each team composed of 16 athletes. This ensures a thrilling and highly competitive event on the grandest sporting stage.
