AWIEF Joins Forces with Partners to Launch WITH Project: A Game-Changer for Women in Tourism and Hospitality

Date:

Seven African and European organizations have formed a consortium to kick off the ‘WITH project: Boosting Women Entrepreneurship Education in Tourism and Hospitality’ in Sub-Saharan Africa. The project, which is co-funded by the European Union, was officially kicked off in Seville, Spain. WITH is a two-year project aimed at educating and empowering a new generation of climate and sustainability-conscious women intrapreneurs, entrepreneurs, and business owners in Sub-Saharan Africa’s tourism and hospitality industries.

A kick-off meeting was held in the offices of the Official Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Services, and Navigation of Seville. The chamber’s President, Francisco Herrero León, expressed his delight in being a part of a project that connects entrepreneurship and women.

Africa Women Innovation and Entrepreneurship Forum (AWIEF) in South Africa, Seville Official Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Services, and Navigation in Spain, International Consulting and Mobility Agency (INCOMA) in Spain, Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) in Nigeria, Centro Studi e Iniziative Europeo (CESIE) in Italy, Equip Consulting Group in Malawi, and Gift Women Link Foundation in Uganda are among the partner organizations.

WITH initiative has established major objectives. The first objective of the WITH project is to empower young women with the soft skills and personal and social competencies needed to succeed as entrepreneurs. The project seeks to give women the knowledge and tools they need to successfully navigate the opportunities and challenges in the hospitality and tourism sectors by offering training and support.

Additionally, WITH strives to assist educators and trainers in modernizing their practices and expertise to meet the demands of the labor market and global standards. The project makes sure that trainers have the necessary skills and talents to properly teach current information to the young women they mentor.

One of the main goals of the WITH project is sustainability. The consortium wants to spread awareness of and interest in environmentally friendly travel and hospitality among its members. Women entrepreneurs may help protect the environment and improve their communities by incorporating sustainability practices into their companies. Furthermore, WITH initiative aims to improve the opportunities for experiential learning. The initiative improves the participants’ practical knowledge and competencies by giving them hands-on experiences.
