With the rise of social media and the increasing popularity of AI technology, it was only a matter of time before these two worlds collided. Enter the latest trend: AI makeup. Instead of FaceTiming a friend for makeup advice, people are turning to artificial intelligence to choose their looks. From eyeshadow stars to black lipstick, the recommendations may be interesting, to say the least. But is this trend worth trying out?

There are several ways to get AI makeup advice. One option is to take advantage of Snapchat’s new chatbot, which answers inquiries and provides cosmetic advice using search engine technology. Another option is to engage ChatGPT, an AI-powered content writer who can design a personalized viral makeup look for you.

TikTokers have started sharing their interactions with AI makeup, with varying results. Some creators have been pleasantly surprised by the looks that the AI gives, while others have considered them to be out of date or too heavy makeup.

Using Snapchat’s chatbot, one TikToker named @natviolette experimented with the AI makeup trend. The chatbot suggested Tarte Shape Tape Concealer and Fenty Beauty’s Pro Filt’r Longwear Foundation for full coverage, followed by Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz for natural-looking, defined brows. The AI suggested Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder for a matte finish to complete the look. Additionally, the AI recommended @natviolette use its preferred blush, highlighter, eyeshadow, eyeliner, lip liner, and lipstick products.

Another TikToker, @christxiee, also tried out the trend but found that the AI recommended a full-coverage foundation, bronzer, and thick concealer, rather than the more natural look she was going for.

For a twist on the trend, @sourandnasty asked ChatGPT to create a viral makeup look and followed along step-by-step. The AI recommended liquid eyeliner, eyeshadow stars, and dots, highlighter, and lipstick, resulting in a mash-up of recent viral trends. The creator said: “Honestly, I don’t think AI is coming for makeup artists’ jobs anytime soon.”

Is AI Makeup Worth Trying?

Even though AI makeup might not be for everyone, it can be entertaining to try out different styles and products. It’s crucial to remember, though, that AI recommendations might not always suit your tastes or preferences. Furthermore, technology is still developing, so the outcomes might not always be ideal.

Overall, adding technology to your beauty routine is fun and exciting with the AI makeup trend. If you want a full glam look or just some new product suggestions, AI makeup might be worth a shot.
