American singer-songwriters Christina Aguilera, Madonna, and Mariah Carey are three legendary stars who are featured in one of Billboard’s first NFT Magazine covers. Billboard wanted to highlight initiatives to ensure that the future of music is one of equality as the music industry prepares to adapt to a virtual future. So, for its annual Women in Music issue, Billboard decided to produce a set of unique covers that feature non-fungible tokens to celebrate these legendary female singers.
Billboard has partnered with World of Women to do so. WoW has earned a reputation as a company co-founded and debuted in July by NFT artist Yam Karkai. The goal of the company is to welcome women into the digital collectible space, using inclusive and empowering descriptions.
World of Women is an artwork compilation of 10,000 one-of-a-kind women. Its purpose is to commemorate diversity, inclusivity, and equitable chances for everyone. Yam Karakai, the organization’s creator, will create the artwork for the Billboard covers, which will be sold on the FTX US NFT marketplace later in March.
Furthermore, it has been disclosed that the purchasers of these NFTs will be sent to Los Angeles for the Women in Music ceremony next year. In the event, the purchasers of these NFTs will walk the red carpet alongside the star honorees. Additionally, the proceeds from the sales will go to three charities selected by the three cover stars. The proceeds will be donated to the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence by Aguilera.
Madonna’s earnings will benefit the City of Joy, a leadership community in the Democratic Republic of Congo that assists female victims of violence. Finally, Carey plans to use the money to form a partnership between Camp Mariah and the Fresh Air Fund to provide summer camp opportunities for low-income children in New York.
