University Engineering of Technology (UET) Peshawar and Khwendo Kor (KK) which is a non-profitable, non-governmental and non-partisan organization disclosed that they both have inked an MoU. UET and KK confirmed that they both joined forces to mutually work for women’s empowerment and guarantee their participation in education in the KPK province.
As per the agreement, KK and UET both shared the vision of promoting women’s empowerment and inspiring them to take an active part after completing their education in the disadvantaged sectors of industry, technical field jobs, and business management. It has been disclosed that VC UET Peshawar, Prof. Dr. Iftikhar Hussain, and Khalid Usman, Director Operations KK inked the MoU in presence of senior officials of UET Peshawar and Khwendo Kor.
Furthermore, KK is engaged in villages of KPK and Newly Merged Districts (NMDs) where health, education, and income generation facilities are either non-existent or dysfunctional, and women and the poor are ostracized. KK is showcasing a soft image of Pakistan to the world, which is palpable.
Moreover, women are still in the minority in science, technology, and mathematics (STEM) education, said VC UET Peshawar Prof. Dr. Iftikhar Hussain, despite there being an upward trend when compared to last decade’s figures. This piqued the university’s interest in preparing UET students to overcome the barriers that contribute to women’s underrepresentation in STEM fields.
