The President of the United States Joe Biden has picked Caroline Kennedy and Michelle Kwan to be the U.S. representative to Australia and Belize, respectively. Caroline Kennedy worked as a U.S. representative to Japan earlier. Ms. Kennedy’s in her term became the first female representative in Japan from 2013 to 2017. On the other hand, Michelle Kwan is a renowned figure skater.

The struggles of the Biden government to nominate American representatives overseas have been actually stopped in the Senate by two Republicans, Josh Hawley of Missouri and Ted Cruz of Texas. The rules of the Senate allow any individual senator to put an unofficial delay on any administrative branch candidate. Senators have stopped judicial nominations, ambassadors, and Cabinet candidates over the years as a way to exercise their influence in order to obtain privileges from leaders.

Caroline Kennedy is the daughter of the late President John F. Kennedy, who was murdered in 1963. Caroline has earned a reputation as a best-selling author and public speaker. She has spent much of her life working to enhance New York City Schools. Former President Barack Obama chose Kennedy to be his representative to Japan.

On the other hand, Kwan has gained recognition as one of the most famous American figure skaters of her generation. She has secured five world championships and two Olympic medals, the last one in 2006. But in the years since then, Kwan has established a career as a well-respected nonprofit executive and a State Department advisor on global women’s issues.

Furthermore, the decision of Biden to nominate Kennedy and Kwan is indicative of how well the United States cherishes its partnerships with Australia and Belize. Australia is one of America’s closest and most reliable allies, and the country plays an important role in Biden’s long-term strategic plan in order to fight the increasing influence of China in the Pacific. Belize is also a trusted U.S. ally and an important geographic partner in a region dogged by political uncertainty, narcotics smuggling, and mass movement.
