Anita Harrison-Carroll from Merseyside stepped foot in the construction industry during her search for a career that help her balance her business and personal life. She is a mother of three and is now serving as the Managing Director of “The Sovini Group”, a company that has earned a reputation for building new homes, enhancing service delivery, and backing the communities that remain central to its business.
48-years old Anita disclosed that when she decided to step foot in the construction industry, the whole process was “nerve-wrecking” because she switched her career from IT to repair and maintenance. When she started everything was new to her, but she settled in her job and now she is championing other women.
She revealed that she has decided to search for a new job and do something totally different. A lot of her skills were flexible, so she joined One Vision Housing a part of The Sovini Group as a facilities manager. She has joined a team full of men and her role was totally new to her. But she strived hard and thrived in the role. She has since taken every chance to develop her own career as well as the business and the opportunities it offers to others.
Her hard work and dedication helped her to earn a business leader of the year award at the 2015 Women in Construction Awards. She revealed that as the managing director of three leading Northwest companies, it is gratifying to propose meaningful employment opportunities, especially through these economically difficult times.
Furthermore, Anita is particularly eager to inspire even more women to work in construction. She added that she was the only woman when she joined and it was a scary prospect so, wherever she can, she assist women in the construction industry. Presently, Anita is studying MBA at Liverpool John Moores University.
