Woman Lost Her Life after Alec Baldwin Misfired Prop Gun on Movie Set

A director of Photography, Halyna Hutchins, has lost her life after an American actor Alec Baldwin accidentally discharged a prop firearm on a movie set. She was immediately shifted to the University of New Mexico Hospital via helicopter, but she succumbed to a shot wound. Director Joel Souza was also injured, and he was shifted to Christus St. Vincent’s Regional Medical Center by ambulance for care.

The sheriff’s office released a statement and disclosed that on the set of the movie “Rust” in New Mexico, there was a scene in which a prop firearm is involved. Alec Baldwin accidentally shot the director of photography who lost her life and the director of the movie who is in medical care. Sherriff’s office is currently investigating the case.

Furthermore, the Sheriff’s office disclosed that Deputies answered a 911 call Thursday afternoon that informed a shot on the Bonanza Creek Ranch set of “Rust.” Presently, no charges have been filed against anyone as the authorities are still investigating.  “Rust” stars Baldwin also serves as a producer on the film. After the incident, the production has been stopped.

Baldwin’s representative also confirmed that there was an accident on the set relating to the misfire of a prop gun with blanks. The woman who lost her life earlier worked as director of cinematography for the 2020 action film “Archenemy,” featuring Joe Manganiello. She was a 2015 graduate of the American Film Institute and was also named a “rising star” by American Cinematographer in 2019. Her recent Instagram post confirmed her presence in the Bonanza Creek Ranch set.
