American author and retired professional wrestler AJ Lee have disclosed that she has decided to make a sensational comeback to wrestling. The 34-years old three-time WWE Divas champion was forced to leave the pro-wrestling world in April 2015 due to injury. But Lee has announced her remarkable comeback to the pro-wrestling world with Women of Wrestling (WOW).
She left the in-ring competition after suffering from permanent damage to the cervical spine. Talking to a press conference, she disclosed that she has inked a contract with Women of Wrestling (WOW) which was established in 2000. AJ Lee disclosed that she will work under her real name AJ Mendez. The ex-WWE fan favorite is not going to participate in the ring.
Furthermore, Lee confirmed her participation with the promotion during a press conference that also had owner Jeanie Buss, who also holds LA Lakers, and Dan Cohen, the President of ViacomCBS Global Distribution Group. Additionally, the All-Women’s wrestling promotion also inked a new multi-year distribution deal with ViacomCBS Global Distribution Group. They also affirmed that new episodes of WOW will begin in weekend syndication since the autumn of 2022.
In addition, AJ Lee started her wrestling career back in 2007. She joined the WWE a couple of years later and officially joined hands with their Florida Championship Wrestling roster where she spent another two years before finally making her main roster appearance. AJ Mendez’s husband CM Punk recently made his comeback to wrestling when he inked a contract with WWE’s rival promotion AEW, put an end to a seven-year absence from in-ring action.
