19-years old American singer-songwriter Billie Eilish is going to be the first headliner for the 2022 Glastonbury Festival. Eilish would be Glastonbury’s first female headliner since Adele in 2016. Eilish will be the youngest solo artist ever to headline the Glastonbury festival. Eilish made her Glastonbury first appearance in 2019.

Eilish will be 20 years and six months old when she headlines the festival. The youngest performer title was earlier held by Mark Hamilton of UK band Ash, who was nearly 20 years and three months old when the group replaced Steve Winwood as a headliner in 1997. Ash frontman Tim Wheeler was 20 years and five months.

Bad Guy singer hints at becoming the youngest female headliner of the festival. She took to Instagram and post her picture in the festival’s hoodie and captions the post “2022”. The news has excited the fans of Billie. Later, Glastonbury’s co-organizer Emily Eavis, confirmed the news sharing the same post which Billie has posted.

Emily wrote: “We couldn’t be happier to announce that the wondrous Billie Eilish is headlining the Pyramid on the Friday at next year’s Glastonbury Festival, becoming the youngest solo headliner in our history. This feels like the perfect way for us to return and I cannot wait.” Glastonbury was also called off this year, but the organizers staged a virtual event with artists including Coldplay, Wolf Alice, and Jorja Smith.

Eilish is the first headliner to be chosen for the 2022 festival which Glastonbury organizers expecting being a successful comeback after COVID-19 forced the organizer to cancel the event due to the increasing COVID-19 cases in two consecutive years.
