23-year-old Lexie Alford has made history as she became the youngest travel enthusiast who has traveled to 196 countries just at the age of 21. She was only 21 when she achieved this milestone as she has traveled to 196 Countries at the age of 21 and break the Guinness World Record. She snatched the youngest traveler title from James Asquith, who secured the title in 2013 at the age of 24.
She claimed that she has visited North Korea and is also in the process of having nearly 10,000 pieces of evidence confirmed by Guinness. She had this dream when she was a little kid and was able to fulfill it in her teenage. Her effort to travel to every country on earth became easier as her family own a travel agency.
Lexie disclosed that her family traveled all over the place from the floating villages of Cambodia to the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, from Ushuaia at the tip of Argentina to the Great Pyramids of Giza in Egypt. She revealed that her parents were committed to exposing every way of life around the world to her and presently she sees a huge impact of their effort.
In the beginning, when she decided to travel all around the world, she didn’t have the thought to break the world record she has started as just an adventurous traveler. She had this thought to break the world record when she witnessed that people around her especially young women get inspiration from her act. She made her goal to show everyone that the world is not as much scary as it was described by the media, Lexie wanted to show that there is kindness everywhere.
As far as the funding is concerned, she disclosed that the whole travel was self-funded. She did a few campaigns for a few brands to fund her travel, but she never received any official sponsorship. Lexie has the whole credit of this title as she has collected money for the travel since she was 12-years old. She did every job to collect money.
After completing her travel all around the world she decided to encourage other travel enthusiasts. She has made Instagram, YouTube account and shared her experience. She also got fame for giving useful advice to other travel enthusiasts. She also gave a TEDx talk on her experiences.
