American Singer Sarah Dash has passed away at the age of 76. She was the co-founder of the all-female singing group Labelle and earned a reputation for their 1974 hit “Lady Marmalade.” The group has gained recognition because of its uniqueness as unlike other girl groups of the time, each member of the group sang both lead and background voices.
Patti Labelle who is the bandmate of Sarah took to Instagram and confirmed the news of Sarah’s death. She disclosed that she and Sarah were on a stage together on Saturday. She described Sarah as a loving and beautiful soul. Sarah was a loving friend to Patti who was always with her when she needed her.
Furthermore, she stated that Sarah was a pure soul who always stand for others and became their voice. She was always a giver and always sharing her talent and her time. She stated that her death is devastating not only for Patti but also for her fans and other loved ones. Patti prayed that Sarah’s precious memories bring peace and comfort to her loved ones.
Additionally, Nona Hendryx also took to Instagram and disclosed that she doesn’t have words to explain the loss. She stated that she and Sarah spoke a musical language, music says it best. Singing brought them together.
Moreover, after the group disbanded in 1976, Dash started performing as a solo singer. She released various albums over the years. She also became reputable as a session singer, recording and acting with Keith Richards and the Rolling Stones.
