It has been revealed that the Supreme Court Collegium led by the Chief Justice of India N V Ramana has suggested nine names to the government on Tuesday for the appointment as judges to the top court.

The list includes the names of three women judges, including one who could become the first woman Chief Justice of India. The women judges whom names have been proposed by SC include Justice B V Nagarathna of the Karnataka High Court; Justice Hima Kohli, Chief Justice of the Telangana High Court; and Justice Bela Trivedi of the Gujarat High Court.

Furthermore, Justice B V Nagarathna once stated: “India’s Patriarchal Society doesn’t know how to treat empowered women” and she may now become the first woman Chief Justice of India in 2027. She started as a lawyer in Bengaluru and was chosen as an additional judge in the Karnataka HC in February 2008. She became a permanent judge two years later. Justice B V Nagarathna has provided some extraordinary judgments about the need to control electronic media, temple laws, and women issues.
