Pakistani Cyclist Samar Khan Reach K2’s Base Camp on a Cycle


Pakistani Cyclist Samar Khan has made history after she achieved the greatest milestone by reaching the world’s second-highest mountain K2’s base camp on a cycle. By reaching K2 base camp she made her country proud as she became the female cyclist in the country to reach K2’s base camp on a cycle.

She took to Instagram and confirmed that she has reached K2’s base camp on cycle. During her journey, she updated her fans about every stage. She wrote: “After clearing few road blockages, reached Askoli, had a beautiful camping experience & started my ride towards the next stage.”

From Askoli when she started marching towards Paijo she wrote: “The real challenge when jeep track ends & mountain track starts. Ups & downs, rocks & streams with a lot of jumps. K2 basecamp offers the longest stage differences & test your nerves to the fullest & carrying a mountain bike adds up to it. Paijo is situated at almost 3407 meters in height.”

Furthermore, she also provided updates about Urdukus and Ghoro 2 tracks. Cyclist stated: “The path towards Urdukus brings the magnificent Baltoro Glacier, with its endless ups & downs covered with rocks & deep crevices. In Ghoro 2 extreme weather conditions & altitudes sickness starts usually from this point, riding on such tracks is physically demanding, so water is your best friend.”

Moreover, when she finally reached her destination she wrote: “The stage where prayers are answered or sometimes delayed, where I got to see the clear face of majestic Choghori, standing with the grace. After a long night of chasing oxygen & silent prayers, the morning brought me face to face with K2, with a lot of injuries & shivering cold but with a magnificent sight.”

Samar Khan has gained recognition as a mountain biker and extreme sports athlete. She’s also made history when she became the first Pakistani to summit Mount Kilimanjaro and the Biafo Glaciers in the Karakoram Range on a bike.
