Melinda French Gates and MacKenzie Scott Join Hands to Give $40M to Support Women

An American Philanthropist Melinda French Gates and MacKenzie Scott revealed that they have joined hands to give $40 million to promote the power and influence of American women over the next decade. The donation is being granted to winners of the “Equality Can’t Wait Challenge”.

“Equality Can’t Wait Challenge” is a competition introduced by investment firm Pivotal Ventures of French Gates, with monetary help from Scott and her husband, Dan Jewett, as well as from the Charles and Lynn Schusterman Family Philanthropies. Among 550 applicants, four competition winners suggested various innovative ways to empower and enhance the lives of women and gender non-conforming people in the US.

Furthermore, the innovative ideas of the winners include founding publicly backed infrastructure for childcare and other forms of caregiving, train those females who have an interest in software development careers. The ideas also cover speeding up young women’s paths through college and their early careers.

Additionally, it has been disclosed that those organizations which will win the contest will be granted $10 million for their projects. French Gates disclosed that there is a need to break the patterns of history and promote gender equality, but we must pledge to boost organizations, like the ones getting awards in the contest, that are preparing to encourage women and girls.

French Gates and Scott both are among the richest people in the world. They have inked “The Giving Pledge”. They both vowed to give away most of their wealth in their lifetimes.
