Urooj Mumtaz has decided to resign from her position as the head of the Women’s Cricket team of the Pakistan Cricket Board. She has not been serving the PCB as head of Women’s Cricket as a full-time head. Urooj is holding various positions in PCB.
Urooj is not only the chief selector of the women‘s team but she also holds a position in PCB’s cricket committee. She was also serving as a commentator at the Pakistan Super League. The multiple roles which Urooj holds have attracted new investigations as the multiple roles of Urooj are against the clear-cut code of ethics of PCB. The ethics codes left a major impact on various employees of PCB who are holding various positions.
The extent of the code goes beyond finding roles exclusively within PCB. It includes the representatives acting for the PCB in any power, plus those engaged in any business operations beyond the board, either directly or through family members. As per the provisions of the new code, all workers need to report these particulars to the board. After getting the information, the PCB could ask ethics officers Salman Naseer to carry out the additional inquiries.
Urooj is serving as the head of the Women’s team since 2019. She stated that her time as temporary head coach had been “an absolute delight”. The board is looking for the right replacement. During her role, she has served passionately and always wanted to leave a positive impact and drive a change in women’s cricket in the country.
