Aliyah Boston Wins Women’s Basketball Academic All-American of the Year Award

American basketball player Aliyah Boston has made history as she secured the women’s basketball academic all-American of the year award. After winning the award she became the first women’s basketball student-athlete to secure the award and the second Gamecock to win the title for their sport.

This is the greatest achievement for Aliyah in her basketball career. She is the first First-Team Academic All-American in Gamecock women’s basketball history and the program’s third selection all-time. Not only she did wonder in sports she also did wonder in her studies. She secured a 3.80 GPA in mass communication.

Boston is the two-time Lisa Leslie Award winner as the best center in the country. In addition to this, she is also a two-time SEC Defensive Player of the Year and First-Team All-SEC selection. Boston’s 17 double-doubles graded fifth in the nation and generated 13.7 points and 11.5 rebounds per game on the season. Aliyah was named as the nation’s top 20 in rebounds per game (12th), offensive rebounds per game (18th, 4.1), and blocks per game (18th, 2.6).

She disclosed that she felt the honor to get this award as there were many women out there who got nominations for this award. Boston disclosed that this award highlighted her efforts in managing her studies as well her basketball career well. She further added that playing basketball is her passion but getting a degree is more important than anything else. Boston said that whatever choice you have made at the end there is a necessity for a backup plan. If one plan failed, you can choose other without wasting precious time.
