Nokia Corporation disclosed that it has inked a partnership agreement with UN Women. Both Nokia and UN Women will collaborate to roll out four pilot projects to boost inclusion and diversity for equality. The main aim of Nokia and UN Women is to tackle the problems in four different areas.
Those four areas include growing the number of women workers, increasing knowledge of cervical cancer and uterine fibroids, fostering STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) education, and supporting gender-based violence victims. Both the enterprises have successfully carried out the pilot program and after the success, they are now planning to introduce these projects in more states across the Middle East and Africa Region.
Nokia and UN Women both inked an MoU. The aim of MoU is to guide global partnership. Moreover, Nokia has also become a signatory to the Women Empowerment Principles (WEPs). WEPs are the set of Principles providing direction on how to improve equality between men and women and women’s empowerment in the working atmosphere, market, and society.
As per the current collaboration agreement, Nokia will be responsible for working on the implementation of WEPs. On the other hand, UN Women will be responsible for its promote projects to foster inclusion and heterogeneity in society. As per the agreement, the two enterprises have introduced four different pilot projects.
