A 36-years-old Huda Al Matroushi broke stereotypes after she became the first female mechanic of the United Arab Emirates. She is a car mechanic who is the owner of her own garage, Imex Car Service, in Sharjah’s Industrial Area 1. She is not doing her job as a mechanic but she is also doing the job with the Sharjah government where she directs a department.
She is an inspiration for other women and also sending a strong message that nothing is impossible in this world. You can achieve everything you want only with strong determination and passion. Recently, she disclosed that she was doing her routine business when a phone call made her day.
It was the call from His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces. Sheikh Mohamed commended her for doing such an amazing job in the male-dominated sector.
She revealed that the moment was a wonderful moment for her when Crown Prince told her that she is an inspiration for other and he was proud of people like her. She stated: “I was very emotional when His Highness requested me if I would accept his car for servicing in my garage. I could not help being emotional. It was such a distinct moment in my life. I felt so proud of being an Emirati that day.”
Huda stated that when she was a little girl, she was curious about toy cars. She always tried to uncover the mechanic behind the cars. She fulfilled her dream and currently she achieved that level where she can recognize car models without even looking at their chassis.
The garage she and her father established is an outcome of Al Matroushi’s dream. With fittings such as wrenches, ratchets, screwdrivers hanging from the wall, this Emirati woman is challenging all odds to fulfill her dream.
