Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has disclosed Friday that it has banned social media in the country. The ban is temporary and lasts till 3 pm. The social media users will be able to access Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Telegram, and Whatsapp after 3 pm. The ban has been imposed from 11 am to 3 pm.
Pakistan has imposed a ban on social media to maintain the law and order in the country after a violent protest of a religious party, Tehreek-e-Labaik (TLP). The Chairman of the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority released a statement and wrote that PTA has been directed by the Interior Ministry of Pakistan to block social media.
Chairman said in a statement that the social media users of Pakistan have been barred to use the social media services from 1100hrs to 1500hrs on 16th April 2021 across the whole country. The country has not yet disclosed a clear reason for imposing a ban in the country.
