Pakistan Secures Membership of Three Key UN Bodies

Pakistan has won the membership of three key UN bodies. This is the greatest accomplishment of Pakistan as it indicated the acceptance of the country by the UN. The foreign office spokesperson Zahid Hafeez Chaudhri has disclosed the news on his official Twitter account.

Pakistan has been chosen to three key bodies. The three core areas include the Commission on Population and Development (CPD), the Commission on Status of Women (CSW), and the Commission on Crime Prevention & Criminal Justice (CCPCJ).

The election was held on Tuesday at a session of the 54-member Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). This is the greatest accomplishment of the state as it has achieved membership for the sixth time in Pakistan in CCPCJ. Other states which are chosen for the panel include Thailand, India, Qatar, and Bahrain.

Pakistan has gained 50 out of 53 votes in the selection of members of the CSW. Earlier, from 2013 to 2017, Pakistan has gained CSW membership CSW, which is committed to promoting the gender equality empowerment of women.

The Permanent Spokesperson to the UN of Pakistan, Munir Akram, commented on Twitter Pakistan’s selection to the three UN bodies. He said: “It is a strong vote of faith and trust by the global association on Pakistan’s role at the UN.”
