Sharon Osbourne Leaves “The Talk” after Racism Row

Date:

Sharon Osbourne has quit the CBS chat show “The Talk” after her on-air debate about racism with co-host Sheryl Underwood. The debate started after the TV personality has announced her support for Piers Morgan who has made racist remarks after the interview of Duchess of Sussex with Oprah Winfrey.

The debate between Sharon and Sheryl started when Sheryl asked her about her support of her long-time friend Piers Morgan. Sheryl asked her that the people feel that she is giving validation to something he has uttered that is racist.

Sharon replied that she has no idea what he uttered which is being considered racist by people. She asked Sheryl to educate her when she heard him saying racist remarks. This led to a clash with co-host Sheryl Underwood, who accused Osbourne of giving “validation” to “racist” views.

Furthermore, allegations have been made that Sharon has made racist comments earlier about her colleagues. The heated debate between Sheryl and Osbourne forced CBS to halt the show for few days. CBS has also made an announcement that an internal assessment would take place and the show went on a temporary production break.

CBS gave the statement on Friday and said that heated debate between Sharon and Sheryl has offended many people and the behavior of Sharon did not align with our values for a respectful workplace. Sharon has joined “The Talk” in 2010. Earlier she has also issued any apology but she is yet to make an announcement about her exit from the show.
