UW Madison student and Ph.D. scholar Claudia Matta Ramly has been recognized as one of the 365 most inspiring women in Arab. The names were recently announced by the site Women in Business Arabia, a network of 40,000 professionals from diversified experiences, backgrounds, and industries.

Ramly is enrolled in the Department of Educational Psychology. She is working hard to obtain a degree so she can further pursue her dreams. Claudia is also working as a project assistant in the school’s Learning, Representations, and Technology Lab.

The campaign was launched in collaboration with Bank Al Etihad with an aim to feature one accomplished and successful female every day for a whole year. Ramly was shortlisted for her venture called the Hidden Jem Tour, an idea of its kind, unique and creative, shedding light on the heritage and culture of the Gemmayze neighborhood in Lebanon.

It is one of the few remaining places in the downtrodden and tragedy struck Beirut that has managed to preserve some shades of its French and Ottoman architecture.

Ramly introduced the concept in 2018, combining the art of storytelling with her knowledge of history to educate the masses and bring it to life so that more people gain insight and appreciate the beauty of the land.

She was also praised for campaigning for women empowerment and creating a friendly environment for women from overseas to bring them comfort, where everyone feels a sense of belonging, unity, and trust to share experiences and learn and grow together.
