Tennis Star Naomi Osaka Invests In Woman’s Football League

Reigning US Open champion Naomi Osaka recently invested in a woman’s soccer league called The North Carolina Courage. The three-time Grand Slam winner will be part owner announced the American squad on Thursday.

She was introduced via a video highlighting her career and all the incredible performances she has given over the years. It also reflected on Courage’s history as a team and what values it embodies.

The ambitious athlete who is of Japanese and Haitian heritage took to her account on Twitter and shared the news. She wrote that the decision to have a share in the team is more than just business.

It is her way of being thankful to all the incredible women who have made her who she is today and supported her every step of the way in her journey.

She added that it is truly a privilege for her to invest in women who are role models and are doing exceptionally well in their respective fields. Leaders who aspire young athletes to stand strong, remain steadfast and take every challenge as it comes.

Osaka further stated that she likes The North Carolina Courage’s efforts to promote diversity and equality and encourage individuality in the community. She wants to work with them to forward the cause and contribute to spread awareness.

The 23-year-old said that she is looking forward to interacting with the girls and very proud of herself for finding the courage to take make this decision.

The club said that it is looking forward to what Naomi brings to the table and is confident that she will perfectly fit in as she has been an activist of many social causes. She played a crucial part in the peaceful demonstrations asking for justice against police brutality and the violent killings of George Floyd.

Naomi also raised her voice for Breonna Taylor and the shooting of Jacob Black which shed light on the long history of racial discrimination in America.
