TV and film celebrity, Mira Furlan, best known for portraying the character of Delenn on the hit space opera Babylon passed away on Wednesday at the age of 65.
The cause of death is unknown however she was previously be known to be suffering owing to some medical issues and her health was deteriorating for which she was admitted and being treated at a hospital.
The news of her death was made public on Thursday via her Twitter account show creator Michael Straczynski penned a heartfelt post paying tribute to the Furlan and her legacy.
He wrote, “It is a night of great sadness for our comrade who had gone down the road where we cannot reach her. I believe she will have many stories to tell us and share with the universe.
He also shared that she was a very hardworking and talented performer and had a very friendly nature. Straczynski mentioned that we all need time to process this and ask you to be gentle and patient towards the crew.
Soon after, condolences poured in from co-stars and fellow close actors who were deeply saddened by the loss of such a beautiful, kind and soulful personality.
Mira was born in Yugoslavia and pursued her passion for joining the entertainment industry by doing theater and did several stage roles. She immigrated to the United States in 1991 and bagged a part in Babylon 5. The audience loved her and she was roped in to appear in the show for all 5 seasons.
She made her debut in ABC’s megahit “Lost” as Danielle Rousseau, a scientist who had been shipwrecked on the series’ mysterious island 16 years before the crash of the Oceanic Flight 815.
Mira also did many widely acclaimed films like “When Father Was Away on Business“, “Three For Happiness”, “In the Jaws of Life”, and” Beauty of Vice”.
She was married to director Goran Gajić and the couple together share a son, Marko Lav Gajić.
