House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has introduced a new law that would set up a commission under the 25th Amendment. The commission will check whether the country’s President is capable of doing his duties or should face removal from office.
The House speaker clarified that the announcement of the new bill has nothing to do with the COVID-19 attack on President Trump.
The legislation is revealed by Nancy Pelosi and Rep. Jamie Raskin. The commission will consist of retired presidents, medical professionals, and cabinet officials.
All officials will work with the VP to weigh whether the President is fulfilling his duties or not.
Section 4 of the 25th amendment has also revealed that if the commission established by the law & the VP declares in writing that the President is not fulfilling his duties, then the VP becomes the acting president immediately.
Democrats said that this bill would be of great help for the country as it determines the fitness of the president.
After facing the repeated questions regarding the new bill Rep. Raskin clarified the intention behind this new law.
Raskin revealed: “The amendment was designed to guarantee the continuing peaceful transfer of power in our country.”
He acknowledged a link to the COVID-19 after an outbreak at the White House. A recent outbreak in the white house has forced the top government leaders to remain in isolation.
Additionally, President Trump has also hospitalized earlier.
