The Korean Health and Medical Workers’ Union (KHMU) staged a protest against the recently released video of BLACKPINK’s ‘Lovesick Girls.’ Health workers criticized YG entertainment for the sexualized portrayal of nurses.
In the MV of ‘Lovesick Girls’ Jennie is seen wearing tight short skirts and high heels in red. Union stated that the tight skirt and high heels are far from the actual uniform of nurses.
KHMU has said that the nurses are always fighting to save the lives of people but YG Entertainment sexually objectified, nurses in BLACKPINK’s music video.
“Nurses are still subjected to unfair treatment and sexual assault. The more this image of nurses is repeated, the worse the situation becomes,” KHMU stated.
Union added: “BLACKPINK’s new song is topping charts all over the world. We ask YG Entertainment to take measures that suit BLACKPINK’s popularity and influence.”
BLACKPINK has dropped its full album ‘The Album’ on October 02, 2020. Lovesick Girls of BLACKPINK has hit 100 million views since its release on October 2, 2020.
