The United Arab Emirates has introduced equal pay for women and men working in private sectors. Female employees shall receive equal wages to that of males if they perform the same work.
The decision is effective from September 25, 2020. The order of Federal Law No. 06 for 2020, was issued by his Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan of UAE. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan is the president of UAE.
The official statement read: “The procedures, controls, and standards necessary for evaluating work of equal value will be set under a decision to be issued by the Cabinet, based on a proposal from the Minister of Human Resources and Emiratisation.”

The decision has been taken to promote gender equality in terms of wages and salaries in the private sector.
Furthermore, this new decision will help the country strengthen its position internationally for promoting gender equality.
