A 15-year-old girl named Areeba Asif has died after tumbling down from stairs on the first day of her school after the break of COVID-19 in Karachi. She was only 15 and was a grade nine student.
The day for which she was excited and preparing for since Septemeber 7 after the announcement of school re-opening became the day of her death.
School authorities disclosed that Areeba was climbing the stairs and suddenly her foot twisted and she allegedly fell down the stairs. The girl was immediately taken to the hospital but doctors declared her dead.
The school authorities immediately informed her parents after the incident. The police have reached the scene and started the investigation. The education department has made an inquiry committee to investigate the cause of her death.
Furthermore, the girl’s body was moved to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. Her autopsy will be conducted after the consent of her guardians.
The educational institution from grade nine onwards has opened today in Pakistan. Education Minister Shafqat Mehmood has earlier announced the decision of school re-opening on Sept 7.
