Michelle Wu, an American lawyer and a member of Boston City Council has announced today that she is running for the Mayor of Boston.
Michelle revealed that she will participate in the 2020 Boston Mayoral election through a video she shared on social media.
She captioned the post: “I’m running for Mayor because Boston should be a city for everyone. Now’s the time for bold, urgent leadership.”
In a video message, she said: “The Boston we love is the city that takes care of each other where hard works meet big dreams with grit and resilience.”
An American politician also talked about the difficulties of the people of Boston. She said that during the pandemic, it is difficult for many to dream.
Michelle disclosed that she took the decision to run for mayor election because she wanted to make the Boston city for everyone.
“I’m a mom, a daughter of immigrants. I’ve lived my whole life knowing what it’s like to feel unseen and unheard even when you most need help.”
“My parents came to America with no money and no connection not speaking English,” she added.

The 35-year-old politician disclosed that when her mother was suffering from mental illness she became her caregiver and raised her sisters.
She is the first Taiwanese American. Michelle is also the first Asian American woman to serve on the council, as well as the youngest current member.
