17-year old Christin Evans could have had the same fate as Breonna Taylor as police barged into her dorm with guns drawn over a false report.
Christin Evans was sleeping when she suddenly awakened by the sound of campus police barged into her dorm in the early hours of September 14.
The little girl has been left shaken after police confronted her with guns drawn and she had no idea what happened.
A group of 10 females was involved in this dangerous prank as they called the police and claimed that the freshman had scissors and threatened to stab people.
Police didn’t confirm the news and immediately barged into the room of a girl who was sleeping. Evan’s mother disclosed that the majority of students involved in this prank are white.
This incident happened at Stephen F. Austin State University at around 3 am on September 14. Campus police had checked the surveillance footage and came to know that the report was fake.
If they checked the CCTV footage before barging into the room of the little girl things would be different now.
Christin’s lawyer said that her fate could have been the same as the Breonna Taylor. Taylor was shot dead in her home as police entered her apartment.
Evan’s mother said: “Kids sleep with their phones in their bed. What if they saw her phone flash or the back of her phone is shiny and they had reported she had a knife. They could’ve shot her.”
Christin has been shifted from her four-person dorm. Her two roommates who are also white were involved in the dangerous prank.
The college hasn’t decided yet what they will do with the students facing investigations for the false report.
Christin said that this incident has impacted her college experience. Furthermore, her mother wants justice for her daughter as they played with her daughter’s life.
