Breonna Taylor‘s family and the city of Louisville have settled the wrongful death lawsuit today as the city has agreed to pay the million dollars to the family. The settlement between Breonna Taylor’s family and the city of Louisville is expected to be worth millions of dollars.
The settlement will also include a series of police reforms. It also includes the point that the police commanders must approve all the warrant before they are sent to a judge.
Breonna Taylor, a 26-year-old African-American woman was shot dead in her apartment. Police entered her house with a no-knock arrest warrant.
Police shot her eight times after receiving the court warrant to arrest her ex-boyfriend. Breonna was not involved in the drug case of her ex-boyfriend but the police wrongfully killed her.
The financial payment Breonna’s family will receive is considered to be the largest payment city has paid in police misconduct. But no amount of money can replace Breonna’s Life.
It is expected that the exact details of the settlement could be announced as early as 2 pm.
