104-years old Brazilian grandmother has courageously defeated novel coronavirus after spending 25 days connected to a ventilator at a hospital in São Paulo, Brazil.
Ada Adelia Giovine Manrubia had contracted coronavirus in June and was admitted to the hospital on June 22. She will celebrate her 105th birthday on Wednesday.
Giovine had also survived the 1918 Spanish flu. Not only this she did wonder when she survived head surgery at the age of 99.
She is a mother of three and has eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Giovine remained in the hospital for 45 days and spent 25 days on a ventilator.
She is expected to discharge from the hospital this week. Her 71 years old son José Ricardo Manrubia disclosed that the doctor asked them to be prepared because her condition was worsened.
They also organized a video conference call with her. The voice of her loved ones did wonders and she recovered from the novel virus which has killed 692K people worldwide and infected 18.4 million.
She is undergoing speech and physiotherapy so that she is able to return home. Giovine went to music school and taught piano lessons. She left her job to raise her children.
She lived with her children for many years but moved to her residence in the coastal city of Guarujá, where she felt more comfortable.
Giovine is a fan of Italian music and took an interest in computer classes at the age of 90. She wanted to learn more about computers.
