Sunmi Faces Backlash For Mocking Indian Culture In A Viral Video

Lee Sun Mi, known as Sunmi has faced criticism after a TikTok video went viral in which she is seen mocking Indian culture.

She is seen dancing with the other two dancers in the TikTok video. Fans speculated that she and her backup dancers are copying Indian classical dance steps and there hand gestures and head movements are a mockery of Indian classical dance.

Netizens starting slamming her for mocking the culture. They got offended after the video went viral.

Sunmi immediately notice the situation and took responsibility for what happened. She apologized to her fans.

The south-Korean singer took to Twitter and wrote: “There is no reason or intention for me to mock the culture of other countries. It’s because of my ignorance of the culture.”

“I apologize for being ignorant about the culture of other countries. And I’d like to say that I am truly sorry to those who have been hurt by my ignorance,” she added.
