Author of The Magic School Bus, Joanna Cole has passed away at the age of 75. The cause of her death was idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis.
Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis is a serious lung disease. IPF causes scar tissue to grow inside in the lungs which causes difficulty breathing. The common symptoms are a persistent dry, hacking cough.
Cole was a resident of Sioux City, Iowa. She was best known for The Magic School Bus Series. Her fans and friends took to Twitter and paid tribute to the writer.

She wrote more than 250 books but her ‘The Magic School Bus’ series was best among all. Her series featured beloved science teacher Ms. Frizzle who took her grade-schoolers on field trips that take them through space, time, and inside the human body.
Her first book was cockroaches which she wrote in 1971. She said that she found out that there had never been a children’s books written about cockroaches before.
