The United States and Chicago Red Stars team-mates Julie Ertz and Casey Short shared an emotional moment as they knelt for the national anthem in support of Black Lives Matter.
Short broke down in tears and Julie hugged her until the end of the song. Kneeling during the national anthem has become a way to honor the black lives Matter movement after the death of African-American man George Floyd.
Players all around the world have started the action to express their solidarity with black lives matter protest. The video of Julie and Short went viral and they both were praised all around the world.

Each player also donned the Black Lives matter T-shirt to show solidarity with the black lives matter protest. Football teams all around the world have shown solidarity with the anti-racism movement.
The national women soccer league is the first professional team sports organization to return to action after the pandemic.
