Saba Qamar Says She Believes In Gender Equality Not Feminism

Pakistani actress Saba Qamar talked about feminism in an interview with Samina Peerzada. She said ‘our society is stuck in male, female, and feminism’. Saba disclosed that she believed in gender equality, not feminism.

Saba said men and women are equal. They feel pain equally. She said in our society we considered that it is the responsibility of men to feed the whole family. The actress said ‘it is not solely a men’s responsibility to get five sisters married.’

“There is a need to change this thinking. We don’t have acceptance, we are not taught otherwise,” she added. Samian Peerzada said that she believed that everyone should be economically independent.

Netizens started mocking Saba Qamar after her statement about feminism.  Saba Qamar started trending on Twitter after her interview.

One of the fans wrote: “I support leaves converting light energy into chemical energy but I don’t believe in Photosynthesis, says Saba Qamar.”

Another wrote: “I believe in corona, not COVID 19. Saba Qamar.”

Feminism is the belief that women should be allowed the same rights, powers, and opportunities as men. They should be treated in the same way as men.

Saba further said that we are a confused nation. Her comment is like saying you believe in breathing but not oxygen.
