30-years-old Leanne Barret, from Rolleston, has died after her long battle with lung cancer. She was the wife of Gresley football Club captain Jamie. Leanne was pregnant with her second child when she was diagnosed with stage four lung cancer.
Doctors have given her an option to abort her child. But she rejected the option straight away. She delivered her son Beau 11 weeks prematurely. Leanne and her husband are also parents to daughter India-Lily.
Leanne developed what looked like a pimple on her nose and it continued to grow so she decided to get a checkup.
Doctors disclosed that it looks like the symptoms of auto-immune disease sarcoidosis and sent her for CT-Scans and X-rays. When she got her reports she found out that she had a mass of lymph nodes in her chest.
In July 2017, she complained about difficulty breathing. After her visit to a specialist lung doctor, she was informed of the devastating news that she had stage four lung cancer.
When she delivered her son, cancer had spread to her bones, liver, and brain. Her husband also launched a fundraising page to raise awareness and to gather money for her treatment.
Their well-wishers raised up more than £30,000 in just two days. Her husband Jamie disclosed that her wife Leanne has passed away in the early hours of the morning with her family around her.
