J.K Rowling Faces Criticism For Anti-Trans Tweets

Harry Potter author J.K Rowling has faced criticism for her series of transphobic comments on social media. A new controversy began after she shared her opinion about an article titled ‘Creating a more equal post-COVID-19 world for people who menstruate’.

She shared her confusion about the phrase ‘People who menstruate’. Rowling wrote: “People who menstruate.’

I’m sure they’re used to be a word for those people. Someone help me out. Wumben? Wimpund? Woomud?”

After her tweet Twitteries started calling her tweet ‘anti-trans’ and transphobic.’ The health article focused on various gendered aspects of the pandemic.

The article stated that an estimated 1.8 billion girls, women, gender, and non-gender persons menstruate.

Those people are still in need of necessary material and privacy. J.K Rowling further stated that she spent the last three years of her life reading blogs, books about trans people, gender specialist, and medics.

She said she has a clear idea of what the difference is. Rowling asked people to never assume that if someone thinks differently it means that person has no knowledge.

British author tweeted: “I respect every trans person’s right to live any way that feels authentic and comfortable to them.”

After her tweets, she became a trending topic on Twitter. people slammed her for her anti-trans tweets.
