34-year old Australian reporter Sophie Walsh who was covering the Balck lives matter protest was assaulted by a screwdriver wielding man. She was started screaming during the live broadcast.
The Australian network disclosed that Sophie was attacked around 9.45 am today on Park Lane during a live broadcast.
Sophie Walsh who is a 9 news correspondent in Europe was heard shouting and was shaken after the incident. The footage of the incident was not captured.
TV anchor Brenton Ragless described the whole incident on the Nine news network in Adelaide. He said that the attacker suddenly grabbed Sophie and started yelling ‘Allahu Akbar’ while trying to stab her.
The attacker was chased sown by nine’s camera operator and bystander until police arrived at the scene. It is not clear whether he was holding the screwdriver in his hand or kept in his pocket.
Brenton revealed that Sophie is surprised by unharmed. Later footage disclosed a man was detained by police officers.
He was arrested for possessing an offensive weapon, for making threats to kill and for possessing class B drugs.

Sophie later took to Twitter and talked about the incident. She wrote: “The man has been arrested for threats to kill and carrying a weapon.
I’m shaken but ok. Big thanks to my incredible cameraman who chased him down armed with a light stand and got him arrested.”
