Coronavirus is leaving its impact on every single person throughout the world. Recently, a Bolton couple has lost their home and now striving for the food.
Ashley Khan and Katie Bland are the residents of Bolton. They have been homeless before but have had got residence shortly before the tragedy. Mr. Khan aged 37, was making both ends meet by working as a decorator and painter.
Soon after the pandemic outbreak, he lost his job. And now the couple lives on the streets and eats the food provided by a support group from the UK.
Ashley expressed how the lockdown turned out hard on them making him unemployed and homeless. He said they are not drug addicts and were living in a shared house before the lockdown. But after he lost his job, the landlord threw both of them out of the house.
In order to abide by the law of social distancing, both chose to live in a camp in Rivington. They explained how someone broke into their tent when they were out in the city in search of food.
The intruder stole some of the clothes of Katie and leaving their camp smashed apart. Katie said she is left with the only clothes she has on her body now. Both of them had to carry the essentials with them after the damage to the tent.
They had to make it from camp to the center of the city by doing six miles walk. ‘We cannot even go to the charity due to the closure of the shops,’ they added.
Katie told about her mental illness and that she cannot even visit a doctor because it’s not open for all the people. She said she’s feeling down these days not knowing if she’s carrying the same virus or it’s something else.
The couple is living a beggar’s life. Many of the support groups are helping people throughout the UK. But the critical circumstances are becoming hard for them as well to support such a large no. of people.
