Kothari Garima, a former MasterChef who was 5 months pregnant, was found dead at her home in New Jersey. She was known as a finalist on MasterChef: India in 2020.
Police reached home after discovering the body of her boyfriend in the Hudson River near Montgomery Street around 7 am. According to his profile on LinkedIn, he was an investment banker at Deutsche Bank.
According to the medical examiner, Garima’s death was considered as a homicide. The Houston County Prosecutor’s office revealed that the deaths are the result of murder-suicide.
After becoming the finalist on MasterChef: India in 2020. She wanted to become a pastry chef. Garima was studying at Le Cordon Bleu Paris in France. She started a catering and consultancy named Breaking Bread.
She started her own Indian restaurant with the name Nukkai on Greene Street in the Paulus Hook neighborhood of New Jersey this February. But she decided to close the business because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
