Dr. Theresa Greene, a heroic doctor who is on the frontline dealing with COVID-19 patients, has separated from her 4-years daughter.
Her ex-husband filed a petition to temporarily get the custody of her daughter until the pandemic gets over.
Greene is an Emergency Physician in Florida. She is a divorced woman who now has lost the shared custody of her daughter for saving people’s lives. She is now facing a dissonance for either choosing her duty as a lifesaver or being a mother.
The US is already under a shortage of healthcare staff due to the rapid increase in coronavirus patients.
Greene expressed how hard her life is being a healthcare worker. She cannot even greet her daughter well going back home.
She further said ‘we’re there on the frontline. We’re risking our lives and to take our children away from us I just think is so cruel.’
Greene is angered on this act of discrimination shown towards the healthcare workers and divorced parents. In the US, 5600 healthcare workers have been infected with 30 deaths because of the virus by now.
She said this is so distressing for the divorced medic to work under these unfair rules by the family court system. They’re proved crueler than the virus.
The doctor is anxious about the effect of this decision of the court on the mental health of her daughter.
The judge granted the appeal of her husband. He said: “In order to protect the best interests of the minor child this Court temporarily suspends the Former Wife’s time-sharing until further Order of Court.
The suspension is solely related to the outbreak of COVID-19’. The system is being unfair to her for not considering their efforts of managing this crucial situation parallel to their family life, the doctor said.
