The 32-year-old medic, Zhang Jingjing, has died of a heart attack at a hospital in Shandong. During the coronavirus pandemic, she fought on the frontline to save COVID-19 patients.
After finishing her 14-day quarantine she was due to go home. She left behind her husband and her five year old daughter. Her husband who works in Africa, couldn’t fly back to say a final goodbye to her.
Hospital declared her dead yesterday. Chinese authorities said today that she will always be remembered for her contribution to save the lives of many in the prevailing pandemic in the country.
A heart wrenching video surfaced online which shows her leaving hubei along with other medical staff on March 21 on plane. Ms Zhang said in the video that we will meet again very soon.
Ms Zhand worked at the Qilu hospital. She was a member of the first medical team from Shandong Province dispatched on January 26 to help Hubei fight the coronavirus pandemic.
According to press, she was tested negative three time during quarantine.After working day and night she finally finished her 14 days isolation period on April 4.
Next morning when she was allowed to go home she suffered heart attack. The Shandong hospital declared her dead yesterday.
Her husband couldn’t fly back because African country suspended all of the China’s flights. He said that they both met in december last year.
