Russia’s Bolshoi Theatre has been hit by a major outbreak of coronavirus. Theatre has recorded 34 new cases after performing on Live TV for Russians from an empty auditorium.
Bolshoi Theatre’s General Director Vladimir Urin disclosed that 34 who arranged TV concert have contracted coronavirus.
A representative said that infected are in quarantine in their homes. Several people who were the organizers tested negative before the event.
They organized live streaming ‘We are together’ to honor the country’s medics who are tackling the virus in the frontline. The event was arranged without proper social distancing.
Dancer Sergei Polunin said that he was happy to dance for the medics who are fighting with the virus in the frontline. It was unusual to see the empty auditorium.
Coronavirus has infected 1,935,278 people around the globe and there have been 120,452 deaths worldwide. Russia has recorded 21,102 confirmed cases and the death toll reached 170.
China recently closed its 2600 miles border. Because there are chances of the second wave of an outbreak because of the people entering from Russia.
Previously, principal dancer Denis Rodkin said that live performances in this pandemic raised the spirit of people. He said: “It’s a difficult time for us. We really depend on our profession.”
