Australian parenting expert Sharon Witt has opened up how parents should communicate with children about the updates regarding coronavirus.
Sharon advised parents not to talk about the death in relation to coronavirus. She said that parents should encourage their children to wash their hands properly. Coronavirus Pandemic spread across the globe and various cases surface each day.
“Never say you’re going to die from this virus; never say it’s deadly or fatal because realistically any illness is deadly even chickenpox. All you really need to do is remind them not to worry and how we all need to wash our hands more often, Sharon said.
The best way to describe the virus to your children is that it is a bad bug that makes you sick if you don’t wash your hands properly. We should urge our children that they make the habit of washing hands for at least 2 minutes.
Washing hands is the best way to protect ourselves from deadly coronavirus. WHO also advised how to avoid coronavirus.
When children view headlines or hearing the updates of coronavirus from their parents it increased the anxiety level of children.
It is the responsibility of the parents to stay informed with updated facts about coronavirus and keep children home if needed, even if they have a runny nose.
