A 27-year-old resident of China Gao has run a shop on social media platform WeChat for about five years and sells beauty products. After the novel coronavirus outbreak, she started the business of face mask.
She posted a message on social media looking for suppliers. One of the suppliers approached her. He stated he had a large number of masks at a cheap price.
She sent £185,000 yuan to the dealer and waited for the stock. When she received the parcel she was surprised to see the empty box.
Police have launched an investigation and found officers that the so-called face mask supplier was run by five people who live in the provinces of Xinjiang and Fujian.
Police arrested the five men and retrieve the amount of Gao. Chinese authorities asked the citizen to wear masks in public to stop the virus from spreading.
