Dr. Preeya Alexander, an Australian doctor has offered an insight into the deadly coronavirus outbreak.
The doctor said that coronavirus spread more easily than a severe acute respiratory syndrome but ‘it is not contagious as measles.’
“A single contagious person with measles can infect 12-18 unvaccinated individuals. With coronavirus, it appears 1 contagious person can infect 1-3 other people,” she said.
Dr. Preeya Alexander is a general practitioner from Melbourne. Dr. Preeya posted an update regarding coronavirus on her Instagram page called The Wholesome Doctor.
Dr. Preeya said: “Coronavirus is spread by respiratory droplets released from coughing or sneezing. However, experts have confirmed walking past an infected person on the street is actually low risk.”
“Garlic, mouth gargles, and essential oil diffusers have no effect in preventing nor treating coronavirus. Avoid contact with unwell people and practice ‘excellent’ hand hygiene (washing hands thoroughly) particularly before eating or touching your face,” she continued.
The highly-contagious virus has infected more than 17,000 people worldwide including 12 cases in Australia four in New South Wales, four in Victoria, two in South Australia, and two in Queensland, the Department of Health confirmed.
