Wonder girl’s members Yubin and Hyelim have departed from the agency. JYP Entertainment announced on 28 January that they both follow the footsteps of Sunmi, and Sunye and decides to leave the agency.
JYP has announced that they both will not renew their contract with the agency. They released the statement regarding their departure.
They said: “We would like to announce that our exclusive contract with Yubin and Hyelim expired on January 25. We have held in-depth discussions with both Yubin and Hyelim over the past few months. We have come to the agreement of not renewing our contract together.”
Hyelim and Yubin joined the agency in 2010 and 2007 respectively and become the part of wonder girl.
Yubin renewed her contract with JYP Entertainment twice in 2014 and 2017. She has been a representative artist for JYP Entertainment for the past 13 years. Hyelim also renewed her contract with JYP in 2017.
Wonder girl is the first-ever k-pop group that challenged the US music market. That is the time when the k-pop genre is something new for foreign fans.
Wonder Girls made K-Pop history by becoming the first K-Pop group to have a song enter the Billboard Hot 100 with ‘Nobody’ in 2009.
The efforts of the wonder girl will always be remembered. They were the pioneer who paved the way to the international music market for other junior artists.
JYP said: “All of the achievements we have made with Yubin and Hyelim have served as a foundation for JYP Entertainment’s growth.”
“We would appreciate it if you could send your love to them, who will be continuing on their new challenges in another place. As we have always done, we will continue to support their future,” they added.
