A 24-year-old woman named Tristen Watson shoots herself after killing her 1-year-old son in the Rocky mountain national park. She died of a gunshot wound to the head.
Park rangers had been searching for her when they were informed about the suicide attempt. When they found them they are already dead.
The third victim was named as Aspen Ann Watson, apparently referring to the unborn child.
In November last year, Tristen has announced that she was pregnant. Her mother Christy Coakley said: “As many have heard by now, our sweet Tristen and Christopher are no longer with us. There aren’t words to describe the pain and heartbreak our family is going through.”
She added: “The last words I said to my daughter was I love you. I wish I would’ve made her get help but we couldn’t force her because she was an adult and all the stupid rules.
Her mother said: “I have so many questions that I’ll never get answers to.”
The husband of Tristen said: “Three lives have been taken to soon. Family is going through a hard time and we have no words to describe the pain.”
Ranger found the car of the Tristen in the park but they found the dead bodies of Tristen and her son. The bodies were turned over to the coroner’s office.
The coroner’s office said both had died by a gunshot wound to the head, ruling the mother’s death as a suicide and the child’s as a homicide.
